Join us in protecting tomorrow.Position Description: The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager and will supervise the safe, day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Mechanical team. This includes efficiency in all phases of facility work scopes, as well as planned or forced outage events within the Duties and Responsibility guidelines listed below. Duties and responsibilities Include:
    • Conducts daily Safety tailgate/turnover meetings with workgroup for safety & production.
    • Conducts daily, weekly, and monthly departmental safety meetings and champions the plant safety program effectively and with equality for all employees.
    • Scheduling and attending monthly safety training as required.
    • Promotes team building and collaboration with peers, subordinates and management teams.
    • Responsible for providing good, sound judgment on reducing costs, work duration and maintaining good facility relationships with all crafts, contractors, and vendors.
    • Delivery of clear instructions and clear expectations for performance and to assist in continuous improvement.
    • Recommendation of critical spare parts and assists in determining the stock levels and stock parts for inventory based on lead times and equipment criticality. Order and maintain tools in accordance with OHSA and Regulatory requirements including all lifting/rigging equipment, slings, chain falls, come-alongs and chokers, etc.
    • Train maintenance personnel and provide appropriate assistance with training on all plant systems and equipment.
    • Provide onsite leadership from job planning to final execution: Oversees daily tasks and provides technical assistance, guidance and industry standard recommendations.
    • Assists the Maintenance Manager and Planner by reviewing and following work schedules and outage planning.
    • Review drawings and specifications, evaluating feasibility, quality and compliance in light of industry and Company standards.
    • Monitors Corrective, Preventative and Predictive maintenance throughout the facility including mobile equipment.
    • Oversee, interpret and make necessary repairs to plant equipment and any rolling stock based on data from the CMMS system, vibration analysis and oil analysis programs.
    • Oversee and monitor daily plant work scopes and projects to ensure activities are performed safely, accurately and within prescribed time frames, and in compliance with Company SOP's, as well as regulatory standards and requirements.
    • Troubleshoot complex technical/mechanical issues, while collaborating with peers, supervisors and management to resolve, develop, implement and document appropriate solutions.
    • Inspect and approve completed work done by the mechanic(s) on a day to day basis.
    • Monitors tool and spare parts requirements and verifies that adequate provisions for such equipment are included in the Inventory Control Systems
    • Ensure that daily job sites, maintenance shop, tool cage and oil storage areas are clean and orderly on an ongoing daily basis.
    • Review maintenance personnel timecards for accuracy and monitor attendance of all with equality. Complete paperwork for absences, late arrivals, and sick callouts. Review, sign and route vacation requests to the Maintenance Manager for final approvals.
    • Performs annual reviews and assessments.
    • Responsible for maintaining accurate personnel files.
    • Coordinates and collaborates with multiple work groups.
    • Complete all required Covanta training within the assigned timelines.
    • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Manager.Position Requirements:
      • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
      • Valid driver's license
      • Requires a broad background in plant maintenance including at least five (5) years' experience in the repair and maintenance of electrical or mechanical equipment.
      • Proof of hands-on, general supervisory background that crosses craft boundaries is most preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
      • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
      • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, contractors, or employees of the organization.
      • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graph bars.
      • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
      • Ability to take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations.
      • Ability to motivate employees, maintain high morale and get along with people.
      • Ability to follow Covanta safety rules.
      • Ability to complete all assigned training within the provided timelines.Physical Demands:
        • Able to work in closed quarters and confined spaces.
        • Climb Ladders and structures and enter confined spaces.
        • Ability to tolerate heights, high temperatures and inclement weather.
        • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
        • The employee is frequently required to talk or listen.
        • Have the ability to don and wear a negative pressure respirator in accordance with OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1910.134.
        • Employee is frequently required to stand, use hands and fingers, handle or feel and reach with hands or arms, as well as occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
        • Work overtime based on plant requirements.
        • Ability to wear Covanta required PPE for the job and the assigned task.
        • Specific vision ability required by this job included close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
