Join us in creating a sustainable future and becoming a protector of tomorrow!SUMMARY:Responsible for performing various mechanical, maintenance, and repair work including the inspection and maintenance work required for the operations of a refuse to energy facility.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties may include but not limited to; inspect and adjust the mechanical alignment of pumps, replace or rebuild pumps, replace fan bearings, replace motors, repair screw conveyors, rebuild or change gearboxes, install and modify pipe lines, and assist in the modification and addition of plant projects.Perform various maintenance and repair work as assigned using proper Covanta safety practices.Inspect, adjust, totally rebuild, laser aligning, balance and level pumps, fans, and other rotating machinery as requiredPerform preventive maintenance task on all plant mechanical equipmentTroubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic problems and complete all maintenance work recordsActive participate in plant shutdown work including tear down and inspection of all mechanical and electrical plant equipmentTake an active part in the vibration and oil analysis programsRequired being on call on rotating basis. Work overtime based on plant needsKeeps work area and tools in clean, same and orderly manner. Perform plant and shop housekeeping choresFollow all Covanta procedure and safety policesComplete the any required Covanta training within the assigned timelines.Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Supervisor.REQUIREMENTS (Education, Skills, Certificates, Licenses, Experience):High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Valid driver's licenseThree (3) years' experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment.Formal technical or apprenticeship training is desired.Fluent in reading blueprints and P&ID'sAbility to read and interpret documents such as rules, maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals.Ability to speak and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees of the organization.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.Ability to follow Covanta safety rulesAbility to log onto a computer and complete online assigned trainingPHYSICAL DEMANDS:Work in close quarters and confined spacesClimb Ladders and structuresTolerate heights, high temperatures, and work outside as employee is frequently expose to outside weather conditions.Lift up to 50 poundsHave the ability to don and wear a negative pressure respirator in accordance with OSHA Regulation 29 CFR 1910.134.Employee is frequently required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands or arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlAbility to work being on call on rotating basis.
