Job Description:
Are you a property & casualty insurance professional who is
customer-service focused and looking to learn the underwriting side
of the business? Are you looking for a fun, dynamic team? If so,
this may be the position for you. Our customer is a national
insurance company whose footprint across the nation is expanding.
They are looking for Underwriting Technicians to join their team.
The Underwriting Technicians are responsible for managing all
incoming correspondence, documentation & reports, as well as making
sure all records are properly filled on each open case. The ideal
candidates for these positions will be highly organized with an
attention for detail & accurate work. Please note that this will
become a hybrid role in the future, so applicants must be within
the local geographical area. Responsibilities: Responsible for
supporting underwriting with renewals and endorsements utilizing
the established methodology, standards, and guidelines Review and
analyze new business applications, quotes, and renewals for all
states following company guidelines and modeling methodology Ensure
all required documentation is received and thoroughly notate each
file Reconcile policy rating and exposures through analysis of
inspection reports and risks with claims history; use judgement and
take appropriate action in line with company and state regulations
Runs and review the cancellation report to check for business
possibilities Approve/decline reinstatements or rewrites on
policies that have cancelled for nonpayment Communicate effectively
with Agents and our Customer Service Department regarding
underwriting decisions and training of Company products, processes,
and systems Effectively negotiate through verbal and written
communication on new business and renewal accounts while
maintaining company standards; ensure profitable business all while
building relationships with our Agent partners Research and track
industry trends from competitors and feedback from Agents to
provide suggestions for improvements and expansion of products and
processes Prepare territory/state production reports on a quarterly
basis Perform other related duties as assigned Experience/Education
requirements: One to two years of previous insurance industry
experience 2-20 license is highly preferred Proficient with MS
Office, especially Excel Organizational and time management skills
Excellent communication, written and verbal
