Underwriting Assistant Sponsorship is not available for this position. Department: Underwriting Territory: St. Petersburg, FL Insurance Discipline: Property and Casualty Job Duration: Fulltime FLSA Status: Non-exempt Hours: 12PM-9PM Job Purpose Provides service to internal and external customers by completing requests via phone calls, written correspondences, and/or transactional work items. Works with Underwriting to assist in the qualification, acceptability and rate accuracy of new business and renewal policies. Orders third party reports on new and renewal business, verifies application information and communicates with agents if additional documentation is required. Essential Job Functions Listed below are representative of those required on the job. Incumbents may perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Staffs phone line used by agents, customers, lien holders and additional insureds Processes work items received from agents, customers, lien holders and additional insureds Performs research to confirm eligibility. Monitors E Mail box for communications from agents or customers Reviews databases and reports, third party and in-house tools and policy information to prepare a file for underwriting review. Processes change requests for coverage modifications, updates to the policy and processes cancellations. Reviews requests for accuracy and completeness. Assists with agency communications, such as emails, memos and phone calls. Assists with customer calls. Modifies policies as approved by the Underwriter. Stays abreast of changing procedures and processes. Effectively uses current systems and applies most up-to-date procedures and enhancements. No regular travel required. Hours for this position are 12:00pm-9:00PM Monday-Friday Extra hours may be required during business peaks or to meet seasonal deadlines. Job Qualifications Listed below are the minimum requirements for job entry. High school diploma or GED. Minimum of six months call center experience. Ability to deliver professional and attentive, knowledgeable, confident, helpful and prompt phone service Ability to communicate accurately, clearly, concisely in written and verbal mediums Able to work independently and with minimal supervision Ability to grasp concepts quickly, pay attention to details and solve problems Ability to meet deadlines and provide timely follow up on tasks Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office Suite Strong verbal and written communication skills Leadership skills with the ability to direct and oversee the work of others Coaching and mentoring skills for improved performance and career success Ability to work in multiple systems while completing a single task Physical Requirements/Working Conditions Listed below are representative of those required on the job. Typical office environment requiring the use of typical office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, etc.). Computer keyboarding, computer monitor and mouse use including reaching forward, grasping, finger and wrist manipulation, and neck bending and turning; near vision is necessary for computer monitor use. If working in an Emerging Workspace, or similar working arrangement, lifting of laptop equipment, files and/or personal belongings weighing 10 lbs. or less is required.
