Student Accounts Specialist Position Overview
Galen College is looking for a Student Accounts Specialist to
provide assistance to students in the collection and distribution
of cash and agency funds for active students. The Specialist will
work with the campus Bursar and Financial Aid department, as well
as Main Campus Accounting to ensure student accounts are current
and accurate.
Responsibilities:
* Accept payments.
* Meet with walk-in students to help prioritize student
appointments, needs, and questions for timely resolution.
* Set up and adjust payment plans.
* Engage in cash collections for incoming, current, and graduating
students.
* Thoroughly document contact with students in CV.
* Review scheduled stipends for accuracy and distribute student
checks.
* Work with financial aid in document collection and setting
funding picture for students.
* Assist financial aid team with obtaining items needed for
packaging/repackaging.
* Assist in process of agency billing.
* Run reports in Colleague to monitor and improve cash collections,
timely billing and invoicing.
* Run reports in Colleague to monitor and resolve repackaging needs
for current students.
* All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education: Degree preferred; experience in lieu of education will
be considered.
Experience: Experience in working with financial aid, customer
accounts and/or customer service preferred, as well as experience
using Microsoft systems such as Word and Excel. Ability to
effectively communicate with a wide variety of people.
Special Qualifications: Position requires great attention to
detail, time management skills, and willingness to be a team
player. Ability to document all communications with students in
Colleague. Must have enough knowledge to be able to determine what
documents are needed and be able to assist with their completion.
The candidate must have the ability to enroll in and be granted
access to all Department of Education websites, including but not
limited to NSLDS, COD, CPS, etc.
Only candidates with no history of prior student loan default will
be considered.
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Must be able to sit at
a computer desk for eight hours each day.
