Galen College is looking for an Associate Program Director for
the BSN Program to provide oversight and direction to faculty,
staff, and enrolled students during all programs. The Associate
Program Director will be responsible for the operational success of
the day and evening programs in conjunction with the Program
Oversee and assist with the hiring, training, and mentoring of
Oversee admissions process of programs through selection of new
Review curriculum regularly in collaboration with faculty to
ensure proper content is taught.
Provide administrative discipline and conflict resolution
between program staff and/or students, under the direction of the
Dean or Program Director.
Active member of committees, as assigned.
Facilitate nationally-normed exam testing for program
Construct schedule of classes, assignment of clinical sites, and
assignment responsibilities for faculty, providing classroom
instruction personally, as needed.
Observe faculty and students in classroom, clinical, and
laboratory settings to evaluate quality of instruction and/or
Evaluate adequacy of testing with the nursing program and
student performance on the NCLEX, as applicable.
Ensure students receive adequate faculty counseling and assist
with referrals to school counselor.
Keep Dean and Program Director apprised of student and faculty
needs, issues, and concerns in a timely manner.
Participate in quarterly graduation ceremonies.
Participate in routine nursing leadership meetings.

- Unencumbered Nursing License in this state
- Graduate Degree in Nursing, Doctoral Degree preferred
Knowledge that includes an understanding of the educational
objectives and experiences of student nurses, an understanding of
the clinical practice of nursing, knowledge of the diverse
organizational environments in which nurses practice, and knowledge
of the types of clinical sites needed to meet course content and
- 3 years of recent clinical experience
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to interpret learning experience needs of students and
match them to the capabilities of clinical placement agencies
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability
to be creative and innovative
- Proficient computer skills in order to collect and analyze
- Must be able to work independently and autonomously
- Ability to recognize a need and address it with minimal
Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment:
- Position requires mental activity, reading, planning,
preparing, evaluating, and decision making.
- Physical demands in classroom and office are minimal and
considered sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying
such articles as records, files, and books (10 pounds maximum).
Operation of standard office equipment such as phone, computer,
classroom projector, Scantron, and printer/scanner, occurs on a
