Job Summary The Private Flood Specialist / Brokerage Assistant position requires a strong problem solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skill set with an emphasis on assisting the broker. As a Private Flood Specialist / Brokerage Assistant, the candidate must possess the ability to take initiative and be extremely detailed to the broker's needs. The Private Flood Specialist / Brokerage Assistant must be able to work directly with the broker to analyze and assess risks, provide the broker with detailed assistance on all incoming and outgoing submissions. The Private Flood Specialist / Brokerage Assistant must also have a strong knowledge of the company's private flood products and be able to identify risks that fit the criteria of each product. Essential Duties: Assist the Broker with the preparation, writing up of quotes, binders and policies within company established time frames. Assist the Broker with phone calls to agents to gather any information needed to effectively quote requested risks. Maintains a working level knowledge of rules, rates, regulations and procedures of the National Flood Insurance Program and the company's admitted surplus products. Assist with applying of rules and rates to all situations involving new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations of admitted excess, admitted and surplus lines products to determine if a property qualifies. Be able to explain the company's admitted and surplus products, underwriting process, and/or procedures via internal and external communications including but not limited to phones, email and/or chat. Adherence to all company partner underwriting guidelines and instructions both written and verbal. Ability to utilize resources effectively to resolve internal and external customer concerns or policy inquires. Ability to recommend process improvements or ideas that may better customer and/or business needs with an action plan to put into motion. Process return premium checks for admitted and surplus private flood accounts. Other duties as requested and/or assigned. Required Skills Must have 1-3 years of Property & Casualty or Flood Insurance Experience required. Must have at least 1-3 years working in a wholesale brokerage industry or 1-3 yrs as a retail agent experienced in utilizing a wholesale broker to place business. Ability to obtain a 2-20 and 1-20 insurance license within 12 months of employment. Possess working knowledge and/or the ability to research and determine the rules and regulations of each state's surplus lines association. Self starter with ability to work independently with sound judgement. The team member must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, initiative and ability to resolve difficult business or interpersonal issues when needed. Also, should have a strong ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization. Demonstrate a comfort level in a ever evolving environment with constantly changing priorities. Must have exceptional time management and organizational skills with emphasis on product and technical knowledge required.
