Job Description Transportation Manager 1 JOB SUMMARY The primary
purpose of the Fleet Manager is to provide guidance and leadership
to the drivers, ensuring that customer needs are met and exceeded.
The Fleet Manager is also accountable for their group's compliance
with Company and DOT regulations. Overall, the Manager must ensure
the safety of both drivers and those that share the public roads
with them. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Manage
daily route operations as follows: Lead the recruitment of
qualified drivers. Lead with strength to develop or remove a driver
based on their qualifications and performance. Ensure that adequate
staffing exists through effective scheduling. Maintain a weekly
driver schedule ensuring that ll routes are covered by trained
drivers. Ensure that all drivers are adequately trained on
recordkeeping procedures by individual training Ensure that all
recordkeeping and documentation are complete at day's end and
turned in to corporate as necessary. Hold routine team meetings
Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance to ensure compliance with
DOT regulations: Ensure that trucks receive routine maintenance.
Ensure that trucks are kept in an acceptable, respectable fashion.
Make sure weekly truck inspections are conducted and turned into
Corporate manager. Communicate any other necessary DOT information
to Safety Coordinator in an expeditious manner. Once a year do a
ride along with each driver to evaluate the efficiency of the Route
as well as the driver's abilities, then share your report with Your
G.M. to correct any deficiencies in the route or special training
for the driver. Work with Sales/Service Reps to handle routine
customer requests or issues, or communicate with appropriate
individual to ensure that customer requests are consistently met in
a timely manner: Work directly with drivers on basic customer
service issues such as additional products, etc. Maintain
appropriate records on each customer issue for historical purposes.
Ensure that Route Drivers are adequately trained: Routinely train
and acquaint all drivers with Crown customer service expectations
and their decision-making accountability related to that service.
Ensure that all drivers are well versed on record keeping
requirements by coordinating training. Ensure that all drivers are
familiar with the work flow in the plant so that they can
confidently converse with customers Manage training and compliance
on Hours of Service (if applicable) Serve as a role model for
drivers regarding service mentality and technical competence.
Maintain familiarity with all routes and fill in as needed at any
time. Maintain a Class A CDL for duration of employment. Be
prepared for 24/7 "on call" to resolve issues. Responsible for
communicating and monitoring driver safety issues: Work
collaboratively with Safety Coordinator to plan safety meetings and
communications for drivers. Conduct and document quarterly driver
safety meetings and annual driver retaining. Handle administrative
duties as needed: Complete and send bi-weekly report to Corporate
Manager. Ensure that new accounts are set up properly by the office
staff. Work with office staff to ensure that route accounting is
handled efficiently and accurately. OTHER FUNCTIONS AND
RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Any other duties as assigned or deemed
necessary. QUALIFICATIONS The ability to perform the essential
functions of the job, with or without an accommodation. At least 3
years experience in a customer service related function Previous
leadership experience Excellent organizational skills Has succeeded
at a job that required attention to detail Exceptional customer
service skills Computer skills needed for the job Class A CDL
License High School Education or GED, College level coursework
preferred DECISION MAKING ACCOUNTABILITY (List routine decisions
the incumbent should make autonomously) Authority to make customer
service related decisions as needed to satisfy customer
requirements within reasonable boundaries. hiring, disciplinary

policy regarding servicing customers REQUIRED
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Must have valid driver's license - Class A
Must have CDL Certification for certain driving positions Must have
acceptable driving record. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT ?
The Fleet Manager will need to be flexible as they may be called
upon to fill in on routes when drivers are absent, or the workload
is heavy.
