Responsibilities

Rebecca (Missie) Hendry & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance companies, seeks an insurance defense attorney join our growing St. Petersburg, FL office. First or second chair trial experience and/or some insurance civil litigation experience is preferred. Former Assistant Public Defenders and Assistant State Attorneys are encouraged to apply.Candidates must have an exceptional knowledge of Florida civil procedure, evidence and trial strategy, with outstanding written and oral advocacy skills.Competitive candidates will be well organized, detail oriented, and able to independently manage a caseload where all work is time sensitive. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. Everyone in a hybrid role is required to spend some time in the office. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.Located in downtown St. Petersburg, FL, we enjoy an active, busy civil trial practice. Qualifications

• Must have a J.D. from ABA accredited law school with excellent academic credentials
• Must have active license to practice law in Florida and a member in good standing with the Florida Bar
• 3+ years of legal experience is preferred
• Insurance defense experience is preferred but not required
• Jury trial experience in either civil or criminal areas of law is preferred
• Experience handling discovery, depositions, and hearings
• Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and trials including Word, Outlook, and Westlaw
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required
