About The Role This position requires the successful candidate to work on a W2 directly with FDM. We cannot accept C2C, 1099 or employment sponsorship (e.g. H1-B) for this position. FDM is seeking a HPNS COBOL Engineer located in St. Petersburg, FL to support a project in the Financial Services sector. Involvement in this project is anticipated to last initially 12 months but may be extended. This role will be hybrid with requirements to be in office 3 days per week. Seeking an experienced HP NonStop COBOL Engineer to join our IT Back Office team. This role focuses on developing, maintaining, and optimizing mission-critical applications running on the HP NonStop platform. The ideal candidate will have strong COBOL programming skills, deep knowledge of HP NonStop systems, and experience supporting financial services back-office operations. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain COBOL applications on HP NonStop systems. Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions. Perform system analysis, troubleshooting, and performance tuning for HP NonStop environments. Ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards. Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes. Provide production support and resolve issues in a timely manner. Document technical specifications and maintain system architecture diagrams. About You Required Qualifications 5 years of hands-on experience with HP NonStop (Tandem) systems. Strong proficiency in COBOL programming. Experience with Enscribe, Pathway, and Guardian subsystems. Familiarity with TACL scripting, SQL/NonStop SQL, and batch processing. Solid understanding of financial services back-office processes (settlements, clearing, etc.). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Base24, SOAP/REST APIs, or integration with modern platforms. Knowledge of ITIL processes and change management. Exposure to modernization projects involving HP NonStop systems. Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
