Job Description:

The Manager, Technical Accounting & Reporting will be a technical accounting subject matter expert and develop, interpret, analyze, and implement complex financial and accounting reports and models for all facets of financial analysis with primary emphasis on financial reporting. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, strong attention to detail, desire to learn complex processes and systems, and experienced in collaborating with various functions and colleagues to drive value.

• Analyze consolidated financial statements monthly for variances and trends and coordinate the month-end close process with GD-OTS finance site teams to provide guidance on accounting matters. Monitor accounting transactions and records for compliance with GAAP.
• Lead training on accounting and financial reporting topics for the entire finance organization. Build and maintain GD-OTS accounting policies and address technical accounting issues arising from business transactions or the implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages using ERP consolidation and reporting software. Prepare reconciliations for complex balance sheet accounts.
• Collaborate with the ERP IT team to develop and/or update auto-posting controls, financial statements, and financial reports to confirm alignment with GAAP and Corporate disclosure requirements.
• Research complex technical accounting and financial reporting issues, and draft technical memos. Monitor, assess, and lead new accounting standards implementations for the GD-OTS division.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts; focus on process optimization for accounting, reporting, and internal control environment, ensuring alignment with GD Corporate policies and best practices. Document and communicate applicable policy and/or procedure impacts to all involved parties. Assist with change management as needed.
• Coordinate with independent auditors to assist with financial statement review requests. Be a proactive liaison with external auditors to drive timely closure of financial statement reviews.
• Lead other special projects such as deep-dive project transaction analysis to improve financial reporting accuracy, ad-hoc analysis requests from Sr. Leadership, attend periodic GD-OTS site visits for balance sheet review meetings, and periodic review of account reconciliations prepared by GD-OTS finance teams.
• Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting
• 7+ years of relevant Accounting and Finance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CPA Required
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, Experience with ASC 606 preferred.
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Products.
• Ability to develop presentations for senior management.
