Depending on your clinical teams needs, you might include the following duties on your Licensed Practical Nurse job description: Observing patients to assess overall wellness, address basic needs and report concerns to Doctors Communicating with patients and care team providers Administering medication via various methods such as injections Educating patients and caregivers on medication requirements, wound care and nutritional needs Collecting blood draws and other specimens necessary for monitoring or diagnosing patients Licensed Practical Nurse skills and qualifications An LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) in a doctor's officeprovides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician, performing various clinical and administrative tasks.This includes taking vital signs, administering medications, assisting with procedures, and maintaining patient records.LPNs also play a crucial role in patient education and communication, ensuring smooth clinic operations and quality care. Specific duties of an LPN in a doctor's office include: Patient Care: Taking and recording vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration). Recording patient medical history and current symptoms. Preparing patients for examinations and assisting with procedures. Administering medications, including injections, as directed by a physician. Performing basic wound care, such as changing dressings. Assisting with diagnostic tests, like EKGs and phlebotomy. Providing patient education on treatment plans and medications. Observing patients for changes in condition and reporting to the physician. Assisting with patient mobility and daily living activities (if needed). Administrative Duties: Scheduling appointments and managing patient referrals. Maintaining patient medical records and updating information. Answering phones and communicating with patients and their families. Preparing and processing lab specimens. Managing inventory of medical supplies.
