Business Unit Summary

HSN's Merchandising teams are responsible for
developing our unique product assortment. Our buying teams partner with world
class designers and industry experts to develop HSN exclusive products and
build their brands. The teams create product and brands to inspire, entertain
and engage our customers through assortment selection, product
development, pricing, presentation and promotion.



The
Buying Director, Kitchen and Food, will be responsible for the strategy of this multi-faceted division which consists of a
diverse portfolio of brands and experiences.
The right candidate will take time to understand our customer, continue
to build the portfolio of brands and partner to create unique and exciting
experiences for our customer globally (TV and Web).



This
position reports to the Vice President, Home.



A Day in the Life

  • Develop,
    build and execute the vision and game plan for the Culinary / Food strategy
    across all said categories.
  • Forge
    strong relationships within Qurate Retail Group to advance agenda in the
    kitchen and food categories.
  • Lead
    and inspire buying team to continue to innovate for our consumer.
  • Develop
    private label brands to drive consumer loyalty & margins.
  • Clear
    vision for brand differentiation (specifically private label brands).
  • Evaluate
    white space opportunities and develop strategies to address.
  • Create
    a comprehensive, cohesive brand strategy that is aligned with the HSN brand and
    customer.
  • Ensure
    that all follow-up on product placements is to specifications, quality
    standards, deadlines, and deliveries are met as contracted
  • Ensure
    HSN product standards are met once orders are placed with a specific
    manufacturer.
  • Ensure
    HSN products conform to any or all legal requirements and are packaged and
    labeled appropriately.

    pursue new business opportunities and brings to fruition successfully.

    The ideal candidate will have previous experience in
    product development and merchandising in Culinary and Food Brand building. This
    includes strong relationships in this category of business.



    Must Haves

    • 10
      or more years leading a team.
    • Knowledge
      of the product manufacturing techniques in housewares categories; understanding
      of costing that will be used to produce the line of products, factory
      knowledge, and relationships.
    • Extensive
      line building, merchandising and buying experience.
    • 7
      or more years of sourcing and purchasing experience, including overseas
      business travel.Personal Traits:
