Job Description:
Westminster Suncoast a beautiful gated retirement community in
South St. Petersburg is recruiting for an Assistant Director of
Nursing. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee and
direct nursing care for the residents, and to supervise the daily
nursing activities on assigned units of the Nurse Center. At the
discretion of Administration, the Assistant Director of Nursing may
be required to act as interim Director of Nursing in the event of
their absence or vacant position.Westminster offers a generous

Management FunctionsDirect and supervise, on assigned unit, the
daily functions of the nursing staff in accordance with current
rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the Skilled Nursing
Facility.2. Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to assigned
care area comply with the written policies and procedures
established by this facility.3. Participate with updating and
reviewing care plans that identify goals, problems, approaches, and
revisions based on nursing needs.4. Administer professional nursing
services when needed commensurate with the scope of practice.5.
Meet with assigned nursing staff to discuss planning the shifts
services, programs, and activities and monitor duties are completed
as directed.6. Collaborate with other members of the
interdisciplinary team to ensure that the residents total regimen
of care is maintained.7. Manage quality and accuracy of the EHR for
all residents and staff under your oversight.8. Manage and improve
unit-based performance metrics that are reported by the facility
i.e. (Falls, FAPU, QMs, Re-hospitalizations, etc.).9. If designated
by the DON and Infection Prevention Certified, functions as the
Infection Preventionist responsible for coordinating the infection
prevention and control program as required by state/federal
regulations.10. Oversee the quality of resident admissions,
transfers, and discharges.11. Participate in the orientation of new
residents/family members to the unit.12. Complete daily clinical
and environmental rounds to evaluate resident care and report
significant events.13. Assists in the monitoring of psychotropic
medication use, including but not limited to behavioral monitoring,
obtaining consents, monitoring for side effects and follow-up as
needed.14. Address resident/family issues in a timely manner.
Report significant issues to the Director of Nursing.15.
Communicate with health care practitioner to review treatment
plans, complete orders, progress notes, etc., in accordance with
established policies.16. Oversee the completion of
accident/incident reports involving residents. Report to risk
management for further follow-up as needed.17. Complete
Recapitulations each month for physician signature. Report all
discrepancies to DON.18. Ensure that an adequate supply of floor
stock medications, supplies, and equipment are available to meet
resident care needs.19. Conduct employee performance
evaluations.20. Make recommendations to the DON concerning employee
discipline, dismissal and/or transfers.The above job description is

possess the ability to make independent decisions, as well as

to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and
potentially hostile people within the facility. Must be able to
speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient
for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents,
and families.ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Must possess a
current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an RN in the
State of Florida. Must be CPR Certified.Experience: Must have a
minimum of 3 years of long-term care experience as a staff nurse;
at least 6 months experience as a nurse leader (direct or in-direct
care). Prefer supervisory leadership experience.ExperienceRequired2
- 3 years: Two years (three years, if LPN) in long term care and
assisted living, including working knowledge of case management/
clinical work, Medicare /Managed care and Managed Medicaid
protocols. One year in post-acute rehabilitation. Case management
purpose and process knowledge required. Demonstrated clinical
assessment skills required.6 months experience as a nurse leader3
