DescriptionThe Business Intelligence Manager (BI Manager) reports to the Director of Data Management and is an integral member of the Data Management Office. This role will lead a group of reporting experts and analysts to deliver key information assets like reports, dashboards, and other visualizations to help drive business objectives. The manager will recruit, coach and mentor members of the team and be skilled in other aspects of performance management like goal setting.
As the group lead, the manager working with the Director of the Data Management Office, will identify areas of growth and maturation for the reporting team including optimization of internal processes. This person will also be a key stakeholder for the adoption of new and updated technologies used for information deliver and data visualization. The manager will perform hands-on work as needed and at her/his discretion, in alignment with optimal use of the managers skills and experience.
The manager will allocate resources to enterprise projects and direct reporting team members to work with other members of the Data Management Office. The manager will help to promote and educate business team members as to the self-service capabilities of the Data Warehouse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage/ lead a team of report developers, data operations analysts and data analysts.
  • Work with the Director of DMO to prioritize projects and report status
  • Working with subject matter experts translate needs to business requirements with an emphasis on non-technical, business friendly terms and language.
  • Interpret data, analyze results
  • Develop report, data visualization, performance metrics and KPI's in support of business operations.
  • Develop operational reports as needed and requested by business units. Troubleshoot and support of productionalized artifacts.
  • Identify and make recommendations as to acquisition of new sources of data.
  • Identify data quality issues and make recommendations to improve the overall quality of data.
  • Identify and define new process improvement opportunities

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    Experience with data warehouse environments, SQL databases, business requirements gathering, and creation will be necessary for this position. It is expected that the successful candidate will communicate effectively with other team members and management to deliver results in a timely fashion.
    The successful candidate for this role will have 10 or more years working in a similar capacity with excellent communication skills, knowledge of one or more reporting and data visualization platforms and experience managing technical teams. Special consideration will be given to those with demonstrable knowledge working with Power BI, Data Fluency initiatives and SAS ( SAS foundation, SAS Visual Analytics, SAS Environment Manager and SAS Studio Enterprise).
    Education and Experience

    • BA/BS in Business, computer science, Information Management or related discipline
    • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
    • 10+ Years' professional experience

      Required Skills

      • Strong knowledge in one or more reporting and data visualization platforms.
      • SAS foundation programming.
      • Strong working knowledge writing queries in structured query language (SQL). Experience with other data manipulation and data preparation techniques and technologies
      • Experience with one or more of the major database platforms (Oracle, MS Sql Server, MySql)
      • Task estimation
      • Ability to manage a diverse team of individuals
      • Familiarity and working knowledge MS Office, Visio or other diagramming tools, and data modeling tools
      • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate complex ideas and findings
      • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
      • Experience and exposure to project management concepts and tools
      • Required non-technical skills include: written communication, interpersonal skills working in an team environment, complex problem solving, results orientated, adaptability to change, self-motivated, able to see the big picture while delivering tangible results
