The Director of Clinical Initiatives & Strategy is primarily responsible for development, implementation, monitoring and reporting on clinical initiatives that support the quadruple aim to drive improvement in clinical performance and operations. -Working closely with the CMO and other members of the operational and clinical teams, the Director of Clinical Initiatives & Strategy will provide project management oversight and support for the principle functions of clinical initiatives to further the Quadruple Aim, and drive improvement of value based care. -This responsibility includes deep understanding of Quality, Patient Satisfaction, Hierarchal Condition Coding, Innovation and Care Model Redesign, Medical Management (including Care management, Disease Management, High Risk Population Management, Primary Care, Specialty and Inpatient Programs), Business Development and Advocacy, IT and Analytics, and Clinical Education. The Director will work in concert and collaboration with other markets to achieve the strategic vision of a value-based, clinically integrated system of care that is committed to care delivery that is patient-centered, efficient, timely, effective, equitable and safe.

Primary Responsibilities:
Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate commitment to superior customer service, including quality and care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
Represents the Company in a professional manner, following all Company policies and procedures
Uses, protects, and discloses patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
Liaise with appropriate stakeholders to support the primary functions of the medical leadership of the organization
Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating administrative activities in support of the CMO including strategic planning, development and monitoring of goals to ensure that clinical initiatives, operations and procedures are consistently being executed and applied throughout the organization
Collaborates with market leadership, clinic management teams and line staff to identify operational issues and implement adopted recommendations, monitoring and control
Oversee projects with the CMO, ensuring appropriate and efficient resource allocation and timely completion
Develops and maintains relevant reports work plans and tracking tools as necessary to track and report program progress; submit quarterly program progress reports to the CMO, relevant stakeholders and leadership
Serves and participates proactively as part of the clinical leadership team in a leadership capacity
Working closely with other members of the leadership team and their direct reports, ensure that the clinical operations infrastructure, leaders and staff support the core goals and functions of the clinical operations team
Achieve excellence with respect to patient satisfaction

Growth of physician and clinical services consistent with the Value Model
Establishment and implementation of medical management standards for preventive care, acute care, chronic disease management, resource utilization and clinical quality
Optimal use of the electronic medical record
Development of programs to optimize the utilization of clinical services, including care coordination and reducing unwanted clinical practice variation
Analysis and reporting of key metrics to measure the performance of individual physicians, Primary Care Sites, Specialty Divisions, Regions, and Markets
Development and maintenance of guidelines and medical policies
Development and maintenance of an effective peer review process to address quality of care concerns
Serve as a member of the management team that assures successful implementation of corporate goals and strategies
Serves as a role model, coach and mentor for effective partnership between administrative leaders and clinicians
Perform additional responsibilities and duties as requested and deemed necessary by the executive team and CMO
Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in a health related field. Experience commensurate with the role may be considered in lieu of degree
5+ years of -experience working in a leadership capacity in a health care environment, preferably in managed care risk environment
Experience and solid understanding of the Principles of Health Care Management, including medical management programs including disease management, preventive health, population based health, utilization management, quality improvement and performance reporting
Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Business or Health Administration
Advanced training in leadership, healthcare administration and/or clinical process improvement
In depth understanding of healthcare economics
Demonstrated strong leadership and team building skills
Project management experience or Medical Group or IPA Operations, preferably in a leadership capacity
Solid IT background
Risk Stratification theories or models
Experience and/or training in clinical process improvement, evidence-based medicine, technology assessment and an understanding of regional and national metrics related to medical outcomes excellence
Ability to travel to visit medical sites & offices at the local, state, regional, and national levels, as well as the offices out of state, and as assigned
