Title: Director, Project Management

Location: St. Petersburg, FL

Summary:

The Product Development department is responsible for customer contracted new product development (Branded, Gene ric and OTC) as well as pro-active (Catalent owned) programs in softgel, liquid filled hard shell and liquid dosage forms. This area is also responsible for the development of intellectual property which provide improved outcomes for Patients and innovative solutions for our customers. Director- Project Management is responsible for managing the development pipeline (both customers sponsored as well as any internally proactive development programs) establishing a culture of execution excellence coupled with disciplined processes to develop and advance the development pipeline on time and within budget with the support of large project management team consisting of coordinators, Associate PMs, PMs, program Managers and portfolio team.

The Director of Project Management (PM) is responsible for the site PM function - providing leadership, coordination, and operation al management of projects in Product Development (PD). The Director is responsible for managing, leading and delivering: New Product Introductions; Technology Transfers into the site and out of the site; Technical Support Projects at the site; PD financial goals including base cost management for PD and PM function, monthly PD forecasting process, strategy for building site Project Management capability and competency, and managing site PMs.

The Director of PM is a critical leadership role for the St Petersburg site. The incumbent is a member of the Site Leadership Team and has dual accountability into the St Petersburg site GM with Direct reporting to VP-Product Development. The Director will partner with the site Leadership team to identify, prioritize, and execute customer funded projects, proactive development programs; and deliver the portfolio on-time with quality and also ensure financial metrics including revenue goals and base cost expectations are met. The Director of PM is responsible for delivering quality products and solutions to customers by understanding product strategy and customer needs, St Petersburg and Softgel and Oral Technology business unit (SOT BU) business strategy , supporting the development of business cases, developing business requirements, and supporting product development and deployment. The role ensures business requirements are met, monitor project plans, manage budgets, align resources and manage change.

Specific Activities, and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management for site Project Management Function, including direct line authority for PMs and matrix accountability for their cross-functional teams.
  • Lead the monthly and yearly PD revenue forecasting process identifying, base secure, pipeline, funnel and stretch vs target for each month
  • Ensure excellence in execution and help achieve delivery of PD milestones and revenue goals through close monitoring and working with PMs in identifying expansion of scope of work on signed programs to gene rate new revenue as Quote amendment record (QARs)
  • Run the monthly NPI review meeting with Senior Management
  • Hold weekly project review meetings with the PMs and VP-PD
  • Ensure smooth execution of projects and escalate as needed
  • Ensure stage Gate review process is enhanced and administered properly as a part of project management responsibility
  • Support monthly site and ELT opmech calls
  • Ensure all key performance metrics as defined by the company are met
  • Manage strategic planning and execution of the St Petersburg project portfolio; including prescription and consumer health customer-driven and proactive internal Development programs.
  • Represent and support St Petersburg in business unit / R&D project/portfolio reviews, management, and R&D operating mechanisms, etc.
  • Proactive role in building a robust pipeline of new products and technologies for site.
  • Support the RFQ and BD process for St Petersburg site and represent site capabilities to customers. Assist with project proposals to determine technical requirements, timing, funding, and procedures for successful completion of projects.
  • Optimize the allocation of resources to projects and managing sequencing to create maximum value for the site and Softgel business unit.
  • Interact with customers to manage project expectations and ensuring positive customer relationships.
  • Ensure clear prioritization and execution of all projects in accordance with expectations in terms of milestone deliverables and budget.
  • Creating long and short-term plans including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
  • Communicating with senior management and keep the projects aligned with their goals

    Education or Equivalent:
    • Bachelors in science, engineering or related field, advanced technical degree and/or MBA preferred.
    • PMP Certification preferred; documented PM subject matter expertise required
    • 15+ years of experience in regulated industry; pharma ceutical preferred.
    • Demonstrated successful leadership of a PM team/function with successful track record of deliver projects on time with quality.
    • Experience building and/or improving PM capability for a site or business unit.
    • Product development and manufac turing experience is required
    • Experience in both branded and gene ric pharma ceuticals is preferred

        Physical/Mental Requirements:
        • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
        • Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift to 15 pounds; no lifting greater than 44.09 pounds without assistance.
        • Be accessible to manufac turing floor and office staff and to use required office equipment.
        • Specific vision requirements include reading of written documents and frequent use of computer monitor

          Business Environment:
          • Individual's primary workstation is in an office area, where the noise level is low.
          • Employee will be present on the manufac turing floor where the noise level is low to moderate.
