Job Description:
Provides engineering technical support for complicated and
difficult research, development, production, proposals, new and
ongoing operations of assigned activities of major complexity
requiring a high degree of technical and professional competence by
performing these most complex tasks and duties in support of LCA
programs by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
Implements existing and new ordnance designs for the U.S.
Government and other commercial entities.
Identifies, recommends, and incorporates a variety of complex, new
product development, product improvements and cost reductions by
maintaining or increasing production levels while improving
products, production costs, yields, quality and safety within
scheduled milestones and established budgets.
Troubleshoots process problems and identifies solutions which
reduce issues while increasing efficiencies of production units and
conserves maintenance costs.
Develops and implements processes to identify potential errors and
develops solutions to eliminate the reoccurrence of those
problems.
Directs investigatory plans/processes for plant and supplier trials
and visits to determine performance capabilities.
Develops process procedures to ensure that documentation is
updated, accurate and understandable.
Conducts and analyzes engineering proposals to develop process
requirements and related technical data pertaining to a wide
variety of products, complex test methods, procedures, parts, and
equipment needed to implement engineering change proposals
(ECP).
Present technical briefings to a multidisciplined audience.
Prepares technical reports and engineering documentation (ECP, RFW,
RFD, SOW, TDPL, BTR, QAP, PIP).
Researches and prepares failure analysis including root cause
analysis and corrective actions.
Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and
develops design.
Conducts complex engineering experiments to test, prove or modify
theoretical propositions on basis of research findings and
experiences of others researching related technological areas.
Conducts engineering studies on design for products, associated and
subsystems components and structures.
Analyzes complex engineering proposals, process requirements and
related technical data pertaining to design and to determine
feasibility of product proposal.
Reviews and evaluates complex designs for improving performance or
other factors, or to obtain data for development.
Initiates cost reduction proposals and investigates proposals from
other sources, compiles appropriate information, makes
recommendations for action and checks on results obtained.
Conducts process audits of subcontractors.
Determines feasibility of designs considering costs, time
limitations, planning and other technical and economic factors.
Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to gather
information and provide guidance for implementation.
Directs the evaluation of findings to develop new concepts,
products, equipment, or processes or to develop applications of
findings to new uses.
Prepares technical reports for use by engineering or management for
long and shortrange planning, or for use by sales engineering
personnel in sales or technical services activities.
Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to gather
information and provides guidance for implementation.
Functions as GDOTS technical representative in the areas specific
to functional areas within production or research and
development.
Strong computer skills, administrative data control, scheduling,
and team interface.
Prepares or directs preparations of product or system layout and
detailed drawings and schematics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
An individual should individual should have knowledge of Word
Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software;
Project Management software and Manufacturing software.
Relies on experience and possesses strong engineering skills and
understandings of the design and composition of most existing
products and engineering/business processes and principles to
perform the functions of the job.
Assigned to manage technical projects up to $1 million in
scope.
Strong computer skills, administrative data control, scheduling,
and team interface.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and teamwork.

Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Engineering from four-year college or university; five
plus years related industry experience; PhD in Engineering with 2-3
years industry experience; and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
5 plus years related industry experience; PhD in Engineering with
2-3 years industry experience; and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience

Open to Hybrid with a manageable commute to St. Pete, Florida.
