Job Summary:
The Global Equities Legal team within the Raymond James Legal
Department advises and represents internal clients in varied
equities-related businesses, including equity capital markets,
equity research, equity-linked securities, institutional sales,
equity and option trading, corporate and executive services,
corporate access, and others, some on both a domestic and
international level.
Under general supervision, the Global Equities paralegal will use
specialized knowledge and skills obtained through experience,
specialized training and certification to perform a variety of
intermediate level transactional and regulatory support tasks,
including assisting in drafting, organizing and analyzing
agreements, disclosures, and other documents; performing regulatory
research; assisting with regulatory inquiries; and recommending
solutions to varied issues. Guidance will be provided to the Global
Equities Paralegal to perform work that is somewhat difficult in
nature, requiring some evaluation, originality and ingenuity. This
role will have contact with internal customers and departments
(e.g., human resources, compliance, risk, supervision, operations,
regulatory inquiry and enforcement teams, and other product and
service business areas), as well as with outside counsel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide legal support services to attorneys in the form of basic
research and preparation of legal and business communications.
Draft legal and business communications in support of attorneys,
prepare legal documents and other correspondence both with and
without attorney supervision.
Perform legal research, including through use of WestLaw and
various regulatory websites and databases.
Maintain a library of pre-approved form documents, contract
clauses, templates, and historical documents, and add or revise
material as needed.
Prepare and create letters, documents, reports, and presentations
for review.
Assist in preparation of presentation materials.
Gather, organize, summarize and index legal and supporting
documentation for internal and external legal counsel.
Research, compile information and assist in preparing responses to
regulatory authorities.
Assist in reviewing outside counsel invoices and tracking actual
expenses and comparing to budget.
Maintain the on-going status of matters in the matter management
system.
May assist with document production related to litigation and
dispute resolution.
Stay current on relevant corporate, securities, finance and banking
laws, rules and regulations.
Operate standard office equipment and use required software
applications.
Provide general support to attorneys and other paralegals and
perform other duties and responsibilities.
